FAQ

All pricing is in Canadian dollars

None of our products are dishwasher safe

When will I receive my order?

It will typically take Reg 2 weeks to complete individual orders. If you are ordering in Canada he will ship Canada Post Xpresspost. Outside of Canada is shipped Canada Post Airmail.

What size basket do I need?

We have included a graph showing the approximate sizes for certain baskets of certain machines. If you are particular about the size of your tamper we suggest you do NOT use this graph. You should either mail us your basket or measure your basket with a pair of calipers.

How do I mail in my basket?

If you are mailing your basket domestically then please include your phone number, email address, and mailing address as well as what you would like to order on a small piece of paper included in the parcel. If you are mailing outside of Canada please follow the same steps as above but also be sure to mark "Return to Manufacture" on the parcel.

Do you have a retail storefront at your factory on Vancouver Island?

Just come and see us! Call before hand this way you know we are here.

What is the difference between flat, C-flat, C-Ripple, Ripple, Euro Curve and American Curve?

These base shapes were all carefully invented for choice. It gives baristi an option. The C-flat has a Euro Curve around the edge and is flat in the centre. It creates a seal around the edge of the puck to prevent channelling. The C-Ripple has the same qualities as the C-flat and one extra, in theory; the ripple effect creates more surface area for the water to pass through the coffee. The C-Ripple was used by the World barista Champion of 2009. The purpose of the Euro Curve was also to seal the edges. Sammy Piccolo's favourite. The American Curve has a very slight curve barely noticeable to the naked eye. Reg was inspired by David Schomer.

I saw a tamper on Reg's Flickr and it isn't offered on the website, is it for sale?

Send an email to Reg and he will see what he can do for you.

Can you custom design a tamper for me?

Reg loves working with Baristi and playing around with idea's. Send off an email to the Tamper Man.

What is delron?

Delron is a high impact plastic, for baristi that "knock" or "tap" the porta-filter. It helps protect the wood or the aluminum on the tamper.

After years of use, the finish on my wooden handle is deteriorating. Is there anything I can do?

You can completely re-sand the handle and then add a varnish coat OR let Reg do the work! Just send the handle back to us we will refinish and send it back to you!

Can we custom engrave our knockbox?

Certainly, just purchase a custom engraving on your way to the checkout.

Is it possible to ship faster?

We will honour rush order's for an extra fee.

Is the finish different between the wood handle with delron and the wood handle without?

Yes the finish is different. The handles with delron receive a final polish where the handles without don't require it.

Can you recommend the base shape?

Base shape is 100% personal preference. Although Reg will always recommend the C-Ripple or the C-Flat.

Are all of the bases and and handles interchangeable?

Yes! All of the handles and bases can be easily taken apart and swapped with a different handle or base. This way if you buy a new machine and need only a new base you can buy that part from our "parts" section of the website.
